No-Nonsense Concreting That Lasts
Concrete is one of the most practical materials in landscaping—but only when installed right. Good groundwork and the right finish make all the difference.
Here’s what we focus on:
- Site Prep: We clear and level the area for a strong, stable base.
- Reinforcement: Mesh or rebar is added where needed for strength and support.
- Formwork: Temporary edges keep the pour clean and shape consistent.
- Drainage Slopes: We build in gentle fall to avoid water pooling.
- Surface Finish: Choose plain, broomed or decorative to suit your space.

What’s the best thickness for outdoor concrete?
For most residential outdoor areas, 100mm is the standard thickness for concrete. Driveways may require thicker pours, especially if they’ll support heavy vehicles—around 125–150mm.
Thinner slabs can crack or fail under load. Reinforcement like mesh or rebar also helps improve durability, particularly in areas with regular use or shifting soil.
How long before I can use my new concrete?
You can usually walk on new concrete after 24–48 hours, but it needs at least 7 days before handling heavier loads. For driveways or structural slabs, it's best to wait 14–28 days for full curing.
This allows the concrete to reach most of its strength and helps prevent cracking or surface damage from early use.
Does concrete need to be sealed?
Sealing concrete isn’t always essential, but it’s often recommended—especially for outdoor areas exposed to the weather. Sealers help protect against stains, moisture and surface wear.
They also enhance the colour and finish of decorative concrete. Most sealers should be reapplied every few years for ongoing protection.
